Cooling Center 

Val Reiss Multi Plex 

  • MUST have proof of St. Bernard Residence

  • Open 11 am to 7:30 pm

  • Phone charging stations and electric service for medically necessary equipment available

  • Pets allowed, if inside a pet carrier

Food Distribution 

The St. Bernard Chamber of Commerce in partnership with The Irene Campbell Foundation and the Community Center of St. Bernard will be providing free hot meals to St. Bernard Residents on Saturday, September 4 starting at 12 PM at the Community Center located at 7143 St. Claude Ave., Arabi, LA 70032.  

Residents are asked to stay in their vehicle and drive through to pick up. Will provide food until it runs out. 

 

St. Bernard Parish Government 

All St. Bernard Parish Government buildings will be closed until further notice.

A parish-wide curfew is still in place from dusk until dawn to protect residents and rescue workers.  


Neighborhood Assessments 

St. Bernard Parish Government is asking ALL residents to complete a damage assessment form which will help determine damages and coordinate efforts for a speedy cleanup and recovery from Hurricane Ida. Please fill out the assessment form here.   

 

St. Bernard Parish Schools  

Due to the loss of power sustained during Hurricane Ida, all SBPSB schools and offices will be closed until further notice. This decision was made in close consultation with St. Bernard Parish Government officials and includes all district and school events and activities. For more information, visit sbpsb.org.   

 

Nunez Community College 

Due to the anticipated effects of Hurricane Ida, Nunez Community College will remain closed through Monday, September 6.

  • Power has been restored to large parts of Arabi and some portions of Chalmette. Parish Government and Entergy are working hard to ensure repairs of power lines as fast as possible.

St. Bernard Business Assistance Form 

SBEDF is currently gathering information about damages to St. Bernard businesses that have been impacted by Hurricane Ida. To report damages to your company, please fill out this Google Form created by SBEDF. As resources become available, SBEDF will connect business owners and employees to support and funding.   
 

Register with FEMA 

To be considered for all forms of disaster assistance (individual and business), victims must first call the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) at 800-621-FEMA (3362) or access online at disasterassistance.gov. Businesses that sustained losses in the designated parishes, which includes St. Bernard Parish, can begin applying for assistance today.  

To learn what to expect after you apply for FEMA aid, click here.  If possible, take as many photos of damages/storm impact as you can. These will serve as a great resource when filing both insurance and FEMA claims.  

 

SBA Economic Injury Disaster Loans  

Small businesses, small agricultural cooperatives, and most private nonprofit organizations located in a declared disaster area, and which have suffered substantial economic injury may be eligible for an SBA Economic Injury Disaster Loan (EIDL). Businesses of all sizes and private nonprofit organizations may borrow up to $2 million to repair or replace damaged or destroyed real estate, machinery and equipment, inventory, and other business assets. You can apply for loan assistance here

Please note the following information is required when applying for an SBA Disaster Loan: 

  • Contact information for all applicants

  • Social security number for all applicants

  • FEMA registration number

  • Deed or lease information

  • Insurance information

  • Financial information (e.g. income, account balances and monthly expenses)

  • Employer Identification Number (EIN) for business applicants

SBA Virtual Recovery Centers 

“SBA’s mission-driven team stands ready to help Louisiana’s small businesses and residents impacted by Hurricane Ida,” said Administrator Guzman. “We’re committed to providing federal disaster loans swiftly and efficiently, with a customer-centric approach to help businesses and communities recover and rebuild.” 

In consideration of the public health concerns due to the Coronavirus pandemic, on Tuesday, Aug. 31, SBA established a Virtual Business Recovery Center to provide personalized assistance to business owners.  In addition, SBA will open a Virtual Disaster Loan Outreach Center to help homeowners and renters.  Customer Service Representatives will be available to business owners and individuals to answer questions about SBA’s disaster loan program, explain the application process, and help each person complete their electronic loan application.

Blue Roof Program 

St. Bernard Parish has been approved for the Blue Roof Program. The purpose of Operation Blue Roof is to provide homeowners and permanently occupied rental properties in disaster areas with fiber-reinforced sheeting to cover their damaged roofs until arrangements can be made for permanent repairs. This is a free service to homeowners. Operation Blue Roof protects property, reduces temporary housing costs, and allows residents to remain in their homes while recovering from the storm.

DSNAP 

While DSNAP has not yet been approved for Hurricane Ida, you can pre-register now to get a head start on your application if DSNAP is approved in St. Bernard Parish. More information can be found here.
