Chalmette Disaster Recovery Center to Become SBA Disaster Loan Outreach Center

SACRAMENTO, CA – The State/Federal Disaster Recovery Center in Chalmette will convert to a U.S. Small Business Administration Disaster Loan Outreach Center on Thursday, Nov. 18, 2021.

“At this stage of the recovery process, the emphasis for assistance is to meet the long-term needs of businesses and individuals that were impacted by Hurricane Ida that occurred Aug. 26 – Sept. 3, 2021,” said SBA’s Director Tanya N. Garfield of the U.S. Small Business Administration’s Disaster Field Operations Center-West. “The transition of the Chalmette Disaster Recovery Center to an SBA Disaster Loan Outreach Center will better meet the current needs of St. Bernard Parish residents.”

“SBA customer service representatives will continue to be available at this new location to answer questions, explain the application process, help businesses and individuals apply for a low-interest disaster loan and close their approved disaster loans,” Garfield continued. “Our hopes are that through offering space here in St. Bernard, we will be able to make SBA assistance more accessible for St. Bernard Parish residents as well as residents of nearby areas as well,” said St. Bernard Economic Development Foundation’s Executive Director, Meaghan McCormack. The Disaster Loan Outreach Center will be open on the days and times indicated. No appointment is necessary.
